Border and Garden Design
The Plantsman can design anything from a small border to a full garden. We will help you to achieve your dream by listening to your requirements for your garden or border design. We will first identify your “shopping list” of ingredients to be included in your design e.g., size and style of the patio, the main focal point, what style of planting be it a small “White border” in the classic Hidcote style or are you trying to recreate that Mediterranean feel in your garden or perhaps you are after that classic cottage garden feel? What ever style or ideas you have in mind for your garden we will help you achieve it.The next step will be to produce a basic design of the main structures, border shapes and their positions, patio/ decks and any major features. If you are then happy with that stage of the design we will go onto to do the detailed planting plan placing each individual shrub, tree and herbaceous plant in their border positions. This will enable you to appreciate the design in detail and allow you to execute the design your self, or get in a landscaper to do the work for you which we can project manage for you if you so wish.
This is an example of a garden design we created for a client, they had recently installed a small conservatory. Their brief was to extend the existing square patio into a more interesting and usable shape, they also had an existing pergola which they wanted to retain but which had no path leading to it, and was just fronted by the classic "rectangular" lawn. The client also wanted to retain specific shrubs which they are ones which are named on the design. Our solution was to create two curved lawns which created more flowing border lines and a sweeping path way which made more of a focal point to the pergola. You will note that the other shrubs have numbers adjacent to them this relates to their listing on the clients planting key which lists their full botanical names.
